Christina started deejaying in
the mid-'80's at the original Barefoot Boogie in YC. Although
she deejays for other kinds of events, she particularly loves
the barefoot, freestyle environment and the creativity
and freedom of expression it allows. She says “As
a dancer and a deejay, I love all kinds of rhythms,
tempos, and musical moods, from heartfelt ballads
to tribal chaos. I think that’s where the greatest
healing is on the dance floor, when we are encouraged
to express a wide range of feelings through dance
and move in new and different ways." Some of
her personal favorites are world music, old and new
funk, and songs with inspiring lyrics. |

Mika's passion for music began as a child
when his family would frequently go to rock concerts
around the Bay Area during the 1960's. He plays percussion
in several bands such as Rhythm Matrix, the Venusians,
and Geist. He has also performed with Phil Lesh (Grateful
Dead) and Steve Miller. Mika is quite knowledgeable in
a wide range of instruments and musical styles. He specializes
in hand drums and making live loops with electronic percussion.
Mika has taught music to thousands of people around the
Bay Area in his community drumming events, private classes
and in schools. Visit Mika's web site Drumming
Magic. |

Ken mostly plays down tempo, ambient
groove, and acid jazz. "I enjoy playing acoustic
as well as electronic music. What I try to provide
is music that supports the expression of our souls
and allows us to journey into uncommon states of being.
My goal is to see the room enraptured and having a
mystical experience".

Diane has attended Dance
Jam regularly since 1980. She owned and operated
Dance Jam for six years ( from 1989 to 1995). From
the first time she walked into Dance Jam till the
present, Diane fell in love with the concept and
the magic that happens. She has been involved
in many wonderful experiences there and has witnessed
or heard about many others!
"It's truly a place of rejoicing in the freedom to do your own dance in a spirit of acceptance and support. WOW!! Who wouldn't be totally dedicated to Dance Jam?" |

Since I was a child,
I was always the first one on, and the last one off
the dance floor. I studied all forms of dance, ballet
to belly. I have done street performance and
taught Contact Improv as well. Dance has been very
good to me!

|
Susan discovered Contact
Improvisation in 1994 and quickly found her way to the
floors of the local barefoot community dances. She helps
provide administrative organizing behind-the-scenes for
Dance Jam and NCDC's Summer Dance Camp. "Dance
changed my life by expanding my range of personal expression.
The friends I've made sharing movement and music have
become family to me". |
